| About
our Junior League
The Junior League of Lynchburg is an organization
of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the
potential of women and improving the community through the action
of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational
and charitable.
We prioritize our focus into these main areas:
WOMEN
CHILDREN
HEALTH
ARTS & HISTORIC PRESERVATION
THE ENVIRONMENT
Our newest community programming focuses on healthy
lifestyles and wellness for children and their families. We
have formed a community-wide coalition of partners to address
the issues of childhood obesity and family wellness. Our partnership
is called “Smart Moves.” We offer programs, seminars,
health fairs, and legislative action on these issues throughout
the calendar year.
The Junior League of Lynchburg celebrates 80
years of community service this year.
In the spring of 2007, the active membership
and Leadership of the JLL unanimously decided to sell its property
in the Rivermont Avenue Historic District and relocate its base
of operations to Downtown Lynchburg. Visit us in our new headquarters
in City Market Lofts or take a virtual tour by visiting: www.citymarketlofts.com.
