Mask-Her-Aid

The Junior League of Lynchburg’s Board of Directors voted to enact a COVID-19 Immediate Community Needs Taskforce (CICN) during its March meeting, which will be led by member Melissa Busse. The taskforce’s first initiative will be the Mask-Her-Aid Project, which will focus on local volunteers sewing masks for local healthcare facilities. This initiative will be led by members Tracey Langseth and Dayna Kumar.

You do not need to be a member of the Junior League to participate!

The JLL Mask-Her-Aid project is a community-wide initiative. Whether through a donation or sewing masks, we are grateful for everyone’s support! These masks do not prevent matter at the particulate level, rather they are simply meant to be a slight barrier and to help prevent inadvertently touching the face.  Volunteers will need a sewing machine, thread, scissors, pins, ruler, iron and ironing board. JLL will provide the sewing kit with pre-cut fabric and elastic for the masks.

Are you ready to start sewing? Great! Here’s how:

Send us a private message via the Junior League of Lynchburg Facebook page and we will recommend the best pick-up location for your area. We’ll have a kit with your name on it, inside a “Mask-Her-Aid” box.

Volunteers can access the online mask tutorial; a copy will be provided to those who do not have internet access.

For complete details, please see JLL Mask-Her-Aid FAQs

If you do not have Facebook and/or have further questions, please contact Tracey Langseth!
